Youth & Young Parent FAQ

1. Do your services cost money?

No, none of the Youth and Young Parent Programs cost money. They are available to anyone who meets the eligibility requirements of the specific program (see below).

2. How do I qualify for your program?

Young Dads: You must be a father or father-to-be having or be seeking contact with your child(ren) in Hennepin or Ramsey county.

Youth Futures: You must live in the City of Minneapolis and be between the ages of 14 and 21 years old.

Harrison Youth Employment and Training Program: You must live in the North Minneapolis and be between the ages of 14 and 21 years old.

Fresh Start: You must be between the ages of 11 and 17 years old.

Bright Futures: You must be a 16 – 19 year old mother or mother-to-be and have the willingness to learn more about parenting and graduating from high school.

First Opportunity: You must be attending Richard Green Middle School in Minneapolis.

New Chance: You must be enrolled in MFIP/Welfare-to-Work through Hennepin County and be between the ages of 18 and 26 years old.

3. How do I sign up?

Each program has its own special way of making you feel involved. Please contact the specific program you’re interested in joining to learn more about how to sign up!

4. You have a computer lab. Can I use it?

Our Computer Technology Center (CTC) is a fantastic, state-of-the-art job search area. It has computers, a printer, a fax machine and a copier for participants to use for FREE. However, to be eligible to use the CTC, you must be currently registered in one of EAC’s programs.

6. When are you open?

EAC offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 to 4:30. Some programs may also choose to meet after hours or on weekends.
