Women Achieving New Directions Results
Women Achieving New Directions (WAND) is the only experienced job upgrading program in the Twin Cities metropolitan area specifically designed to help underemployed single mothers increase their incomes and avoid welfare dependency. WAND has been providing these services since 1988.
Although WAND participants face the double challenge of being single parents and earning a living for their families, 72% increased their earned income by an average of 44% within one year of entering the program (from $16,732 annually to $24,059 annually).
Without the assistance of Women Achieving New Directions services, it would have taken the average participant nearly 13 years to achieve what 72% of Women Achieving participants accomplished in one year!
