RESOURCE Employment Action Center: Discover your potential... achieve your dreams

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I qualify for your program?

You must be receiving Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) assistance from Dakota, Hennepin or Ramsey County.

How do I sign up?

Ask your county financial worker to refer you to our agency.

Why do I need to attend a second overview at your offices if I already attended one at the county?

EAC provides a separate overview that is mandatory for all MFIP recipients to attend at enrollment. The information you will receive at this is unique to our program requirements and expectations.

I work during the day. How can I access your services?

Our offices are open 8:00 to 4:30 daily and all of our offices offer evening hours. Contact the location nearest you for more information.

I am interested in training. Can you help me?

You may qualify for training. This is a decision your employment counselor and you will make together.

Why do I need to attend workshops?

Skill growth is an ongoing process. New ideas and technology are being developed and changing daily. Keeping your skills current and learning new ones will enhance your marketability and set you above the competition in the job market.

Can you help me develop a resume?

EAC’s employment specialists can work with you to create the perfect resume for your job search. You will have a resume within 48 hours of meeting with an employment specialist.

I am already working. Why do I need to participate?

As long as you receive an MFIP grant from the state, you are required to participate in an employment services program. You can work with career advancement staff who will assist you in increasing your income so that you no longer need MFIP assistance.

Will I still be able to receive some benefits once my cash case closes?

EAC staff will work with you during your transition from MFIP assistance and provide you with additional resources. You may continue to qualify for child care, cash, food and medical assistance once your MFIP case closes.

What is Job Club?

Job Club takes place in EAC’s Job Search Centers, which are open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 – 3:00. The centers provide access to state of the art technology to assist you in your job search. Workshops and hiring events are also offered in these centers. Job Club gives you time to work individually with your employment counselor to target your job search and review the latest job openings.
