Welfare-to-Work Expands Community Connections

EAC’s Welfare-to-Work Division recently expanded its “Community Connections” service component to include volunteer opportunities for program participants. Community Connections’ mission is to establish closer working relationships between Welfare-to-Work programs and area human service organizations that serve as referral sources and provide needed services to our program participants.

To date, Welfare-to-Work staff have donated over 4,000 hours of service to nonprofits in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota Counties.

Through Community Connections, Welfare-to-Work participants can now build on-the-job experience with our community partners. Volunteering with local nonprofits gives participants the skills to successfully transition to the workplace and makes them more competitive candidates in the job market.

Are you recently separated from active duty and having a difficult time finding a job?

Our Jobs for Veterans program can help. We provide assessment and employment counseling, including workshops on resumes, interviewing, and job search strategies.
